Marbury V. Madison
Background
A Federalist named Marbury was designated along with several others to be appointed to the supreme court the last days of John Adams presidency. Scince these posts were made at the last minute to hopefully keep the majority on favor of what Adams belived in, they were never finalized. This upset the designated appointees, so they sued for their jobs.
Constitutional Question
There really isn't a constitutional right that goes along with this court case, but there are some questions. For instance, was Marbury and the others entitled to the job in the supreme court? and is the lawsuit the best way to get the job?
Decision/Lasting Effect
The answer to both of those questions is yes. Marbury explained that the constitution is the highest law in the land and any act made by the legislation to go against that is automatically thrown out. This established the process of judicial review, where the judicial branch can deem any law constitutional or not.
