Brown V. Board of Education
Background
Black children were denied admission to public schools where white kids were the only ones who were accepted. The balck kids were sent to a segregated school where the conditions were worse, qualifications were lower to become a teacher with lower salaries than the white schools.
Constitutional Question
Does this segregation because of race or being a minority violate the equality everyone gets guarunteed by the 14th Amendment?
Lasting Effect
In a unanimous vote the supreme court decided that this segregation violated the 14th Amendment. This overturned the the "seperate but equal" clause established by Plessy vs Ferguson, so now it is against the law to segregate people becuase of race.
